Create and execute rigorous daily lesson plans that align to common core standards and push students toward achieving mastery of content and skills. Create end of year assessments using backwards planning from scope and sequences, unit and lesson plans. Utilize data to drive instruction, plan for supports and interventions, and improve lesson plans. Communicate frequently with school leadership, special education, and ELL staff to ensure that all student need met. Uphold consistent standards for rigor in literacy and writing across all disciplines. Demonstrate flexibility in providing instruction during class, academic support period, homework center, and Saturday academy. Create a positive, warm and achievement oriented environment based on high expectations that engages, encourages and motivates students to own their learning, behavior, and choices. Hold all students to a high bar of excellence, integrity and accountability for representing argosy collegiate, not making excuses for them or ourselves; uphold behavior standards at all times including transitions, field trips and school events. Work with school leadership to ensure discipline policies and classroom management is consistent and effective. Effectively communicate with students, families and colleagues by exemplifying argosy collegiate dream values. Lead or co-lead a homeroom and serve as an advisor to a group of students daily. Attend and actively engage in all professional development, data analysis, and team planning meetings.
Requirements
At least 3 years of relevant experience preferred and citizenship, residency or work VISA in United States required. Teaching experience preferred in an urban or charter school setting with proven record of accomplishment for closing the achievement gap. Ability to think and thrive in a fast paced and entrepreneurial setting and ability to think critically, problem solve, backwards plan, analyze and use data, and prioritize the needs of students. Systems oriented and yet flexible and responsive to the needs of students and the organization. Highly effective organization and oral and written communication skills. Exceptionally professional and respectful with all stakeholders. Fluency in Spanish or Portuguese a strong plus.
