Part-time Educational Advisor/Assessment Specialist General Statement of Duties:
The Educational Advisor/Assessment Specialist provides educational counseling to the students and also supports student intake, assessment, placement, and follow-up activities.
The Educational Advisor/Assessment Specialist administers the appropriate assessment tests and maintains counseling notes and documents all referrals in student portfolios.
Responsibilities:
Provides educational counseling to assist students in successfully meeting their educational goals.
Participates in intake, assessment, and class placement of learners in cooperation with other staff.
Conducts and reports follow up on program participants Meets with students individually and with classes to explain program services, helps set, follow-up, and document individual goals, and hears about issues/concerns for learners Checks attendance and works with instructional staff to follow up on absences Meets with teachers, other staff and learners on a regular basis to identify potential problems and needs related to academic performance and educational planning, and follows-up as appropriate.
Refers students to community services/ agencies including those identified through the partnership.
Assists any needs that may exist for outside services on life problems, researches these services, and makes referrals as appropriate.
Assists with transitioning students to next steps in their academic and/or job experience.
Maintains documentation of assessment tests and counseling activities.
Participates and provides input in program development activities Attends professional development seminars and training as required Any other duties that arise
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree and experience in the filed of education and working with diverse populations required.
Strong communication and organizational skills required.
Bilingual/bicultural in Portuguese and/or Spanish preferred Computer and data entry skills required Reports to:

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
